Applinks Master Menu

Applinks is a web utility used to link together on a single menu page access to a variety of web applications and pages -- mostly ours, but not entirely -- for a specified geographic entity. This page can be used to generate dynamic menu pages which lead to invoking applinks for any of the supported geographies in the entire U.S.   (New - Nov. 2005)

Uexplore/Dexter

Uexplore/Dexter is a web application that permits exploring and extracting data from the Missouri State Census Data Center and OSEDA's extensive public data archive. Uexplore is the navigator for the application, allowing Windows-Explorer type browsing of the extensive UNIX directory structure which comprises the data archive. It leads you to invocations of Dexter, which is the data extraction tool.

Work Flow Data From 2K Census

Choose between County of Residence and County of Work and pick a county to generate a report showing where the people in that county commute work or live. This application has been rendered somewhat obsolete by the creation of a series of state-based reports (html and pdf formats) that show these county-to-county workflows for all states in the U.S.

Circular Area Profiles

Dempgraphic profiles for n-mile radii of specified locations anywhere in the U.S. Data from Summary File 3, the standard MCDC extract, is used.

MABLE Geocorr

This Geographic Correspondence Engine allows you to access the Master Area Block Level Equivalency (MABLE) database in order to show relationships among a wide assortment of geographic units. For example, you can see how ZIP codes correspond to counties, or how cities relate to congressional districts. The application also lets you select geographies within a specified radius of a point and will aggregate the population or housing units within the circle(s). Most geography is vintage 2000, with a few more recent. The application contains a link to the 1990 version which uses primarily 1990 geography.
There is a PowerPoint tutorial that may be helpful for new users of this application.

Population Estimates by Age

This application lets you generate custom extracts of state and county level population estimates for either pre-defined or user-specified age intervals. The data used in this application are the special "bridged" race estimates from the National Center for Health Statistics (and the Census Bureau) with breakdowns by single years of age, race (just the 4 special bridged categories), hispanic origin and sex. You can choose your geography (by state and level), your time periods (1990 to 2005), your own custom age groupings (under 11, over 27, 18 to 64, etc.), and demographic items of interest (race, hispanic and gender detail).

MCDC Internet Mapper

MCDC Internet Map Server is an on-line mapping utility which enables users who may not be familiar with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to view and interact with a visual representation, or map, of census data held by MCDC for the State of Missouri. The Mapper pages are powered ESRI's ArcIMS software

OSEDA County Facts

County Facts organizes social and economic information from the standpoint of each individual Missouri County. Counties are often used to summarize trends within a state because of the availability of many administrative records such as births and deaths. Since county boundaries rarely change, they provide a consistent geographic unit for assessing local change. At the same time, Missouri counties are diverse and embedded in overlapping regional economies and service areas.

County Facts provides, in a single web page, a comprehensive set of hyperlinks organizing data tables and other data applications about each Missouri county.

CARES Map Room

The Center for Agriculture, Resource and Environmental Systems. This is a very impressive application that allows access to just about any coverage you can think of -- both political and natural.

Alternate Menu to these and other applications

This alternate menu page is no longer maintained but has a few interesting links to some more specialized, less used and, in some cases, no longer current applications.

American Factfinder

You're right - this is not an MCDC application so it does not belong on this page. But we just thought if you were looking at this page then you must be interested in web tools related to census data. AFF is the absolute best such application in the world right now. Use it to access a variety of census data sets, including 2000 and 1990 decenial census data, American Community Survey data, economic census data, etc. (they keep adding new ones). Combines great power and flexibility with surprising ease of use.
