Data for the County Population Trends Reports comes from two U.S. Census
Bureau sources.

 -  For the years 1960-1990, the data comes from the Census Bureau's USA
    Counties 1994 on CD-ROM, which contains Social and Economic Indicators
    from various federal agencies.

 -  For the years 1990-1995, the data comes from the Census Bureau's
    population estimates with components of change data.

Since there are counties that were either created or have ceased to exist during
the period 1960-1995, some reports will have missing values for some of the time
periods.  Below is a table indicating the number of counties with non-missing
data that were used in calculating ranks for each variable.  For time periods
not shown the number of counties is 3,143.
